Do not leave it permanently on a wall dock in a hot or cold place, do not run it flat to a dead stop every time, and use boost only where you need it. Cordless vacuum batteries are treated differently from tool batteries because they live differently. Cause: Normal lithium ageing, accelerated by permanent docking at full charge — Fix: Replace the pack if it is user-replaceable, and change where the dock lives. Expect a new pack to restore close to original run time.

Cause: One or more cells failing, so voltage sags under current draw — Fix: This is a failing pack. Replace it rather than persisting; a sagging pack draws heavily and heats up.

Cause: Charger, contacts or a pack discharged below its protection threshold — Fix: Check the charger on a socket you have proven works, and clean the contacts. A deeply discharged pack often cannot be recovered and needs replacing.
