Cookie Policy

What is set, what it does, and how to change your mind.

We use as few cookies as the site can work with. Nothing that is not strictly necessary is set until you agree to it.

Necessary cookies

These are set without consent because the site cannot function without them.

  • Private beta access. During pre-launch, a signed cookie records that you have entered the beta password. It contains no personal data and expires after a fixed period.

Your consent choice itself is not stored in a cookie at all. It is kept in your browser’s local storage, which means it stays on your device and is never sent to us with a request. Without it we could not honour your decision, so it is recorded whichever way you choose.

Analytics cookies

Set only if you accept them. We use Google Analytics to see which guides are read and how people find them, so we can decide what to write next and fix pages that are not working. These cookies record how the site is used, not who you are.

If you decline, or if you simply have not answered yet, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. No analytics cookie is set, no measurement is sent, and no request is made to Google. This is stricter than the common approach, which loads the tag anyway and asks it not to store anything. The site works exactly the same either way.

Accepting also lets us count page views and searches in HEKNO’s own analytics, which is where we look at how our sites are doing together. It sets no cookie and stores no identifier — there is nothing in it that could be tied back to you or joined up between visits. We have still put it behind the same choice as Google Analytics, because “no measurement is sent” should mean all of it, not the parts that would be awkward to admit to.

What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No cross-site tracking.
  • No social media embeds that set cookies on our behalf.

Changing your choice

You can change your decision at any time, and it takes effect immediately.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working.
