Can I add more memory to my laptop?

  • Add an SSD instead: If the machine still has a mechanical drive, this is a bigger improvement than memory, usually for similar money, and it is possible on many machines where memory is soldered.
  • Reduce what is running: Free, immediate, and often enough. Fewer browser tabs, fewer startup programs, and closing what you are not using buys back real capacity on a constrained machine.
